Dear Friends, Family and Community,
Aidan Boyle is a nine year old boy who lives in Peterborough and attends Peterborough Elementary School, along with his sister, Kylie. Aidan was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type I as an infant. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor (chiasmic glioma) last August.
We met Aidan and his family a few years ago through Happy Valley Preschool, where his mom; “Miss Beth” was one of Shannon’s favorite teachers, and his sister Kylie and Shannon became friends.
Aidan had surgery last September at Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon to remove a tumor in his hypothalamus (area in the center of brain). Coincidently, Tim was also in Dartmouth during that time. As unfortunate as each situation was for both our families, it was great to have friends nearby and we loved being able to visit Aidan.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic condition that causes the nerves in the central nervous system to grow too long and cause tumors (neurofibromas) throughout the body. Most commonly, the tumors are found under the skin but can be anywhere in the body and in many places. NF is an extremely variable condition that has a large range of severities, numerous symptoms, side affects and several complications. NF1 also has rare complications which occur in only 1% or less of people with NF1.
Aidan is a “one in a million” type of kid in many ways and unfortunately he has many of the complications, along with rare complications of NF1. Aidan has had two surgeries in the last year to remove the tumor- with little success. His brain tumor is in rapid growth and he started chemo nine weeks ago.
Times are definitely tough right now, but ALL of us CAN do something- even if it’s keeping Aidan and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
There will be a Benefit Carnival on Sunday October 26th from 1-5 pm at Peterborough Elementary School with the hopes of raising funds to help with out-of-pocket medical expenses. Please help spread the word! There will be games, activities, face painting, bouncy house, lots of family fun as well as RAFFLES and a SILENT AUCTION.
NF is a LIFE LONG genetic condition with its’ resulting symptoms and complications being more than an every day challenge. Monetary donations can be made anytime at any TD Banknorth in the fund; “For the Benefit of Aidan Boyle”. As NF is a life-long condition, this fund is an on-going non-profit fund, #80-0262925.
We are in need of donations for the Carnival Benefit including; Items for the Silent Auction and Raffle.
